I didn't know apprenticeships existed
When I finished sixth form, the only path anyone really spoke about was university. Even my careers advisor pushed me in that direction.
Apprenticeships weren't explained properly. No one told me what they were, how they worked, or how to actually get one. So when I decided I wanted to go down that route, I had to figure it out myself.
I applied, got rejected, learned, adjusted, and kept going until I secured a Project Management apprenticeship.
I made the most of it
During my apprenticeship I didn't just aim to get through it, I wanted to excel. So I took every opportunity that came my way. I interviewed executive directors, had meetings with Members of Parliament, and became the Early Talent Representative for the Midlands.
That led to me being awarded Apprentice of the Year by the Association for Project Management, my company's Unsung Hero award, and being named a finalist for two other apprenticeship awards.
Alongside my role, I spent time delivering careers fairs, workshops, and assemblies in schools and colleges. Speaking to students who were unsure, under-informed, and trying to work things out. Just like I was.

I now sit on the other side
I completed my apprenticeship and started my role as an Assistant Project Manager in Major Projects in July 2025. In April 2026 I was promoted to Delivery Manager in Digital Services.
But more importantly for you, I now also assess apprenticeship and graduate assessment centres.
That means I'm in the room when decisions are made. I see what gets candidates through and what gets them rejected.
I'm not guessing what works. I see it happen.

Why I started The Apprentice Coach
After finishing my apprenticeship, it became obvious how much of a difference the right guidance would have made earlier on.
I realised I could take everything I'd learned, from applying, from succeeding, and from assessing, and use it to help others get ahead.
That's why I started The Apprentice Coach.
Since launching, I've worked with people who have gone from constant rejections to securing interviews and offers with companies like EY, BP, BBC and Beazley. But more importantly, they now understand how the process actually works.
What you get from me
I don't give generic advice.
Everything I teach comes from real experience. Both going through the process myself and now assessing it.
Most people don't miss out because they aren't capable. They miss out because no one has shown them what's actually being looked for.
That's what I do.

Assessment centres are where most candidates fall down — not because they're not capable, but because nobody has shown them what assessors are actually looking for in group exercises, presentations and case studies.

What we collect, why we collect it, and how to get rid of it.
Last updated: August 2026. This page explains in plain English what happens to your information when you use The Apprentice Coach. If anything here is unclear, email me at miles@theapprenticecoach.com and I'll explain it properly.
Who runs this site
The Apprentice Coach is run by Miles, based in the UK. I'm the person responsible for your information, which in legal terms makes me the "data controller".
You can use most of this site without giving me anything
You can browse every page, read all the reviews and use the full 2027 Apprenticeship Tracker without an account and without telling me who you are. If you use the tracker without signing in, your application board is stored only in your own browser on your own device. It never reaches me.
What I collect, and only when you choose to give it
If you create a tracker account: your email address and a password. The password is encrypted and I can never see it. Your saved application board is stored against your account so it follows you between devices.
If you tick the newsletter box: I record that you said yes, so I can email you when new apprenticeship roles open.
If you sign up to the newsletter elsewhere on the site: your name and email address.
If you leave a review: your first name, your age if you enter it, your rating and what you wrote.
If you send an enquiry or book a session: the details you type into that form.
I don't collect your location, I don't track you around the internet, and I don't run advertising on this site.
Why I'm allowed to hold it
For accounts and newsletters, the legal basis is your consent: you chose to sign up, and you can withdraw that at any time. For enquiries and bookings, it's so I can actually provide the service you asked for.
Who else can see it
I use a small number of trusted companies to run this site. They only process your data on my instructions:
Supabase stores tracker accounts and saved boards. The database is hosted in Ireland.
Brevo sends the newsletter and account confirmation emails.
Airtable stores reviews and newsletter sign-ups.
Netlify hosts the website itself.
I never sell your information, and I never pass it to advertisers or recruiters.
How long I keep it
Your tracker account stays until you delete it, which you can do yourself in seconds from the account panel in the tracker. Newsletter details stay until you unsubscribe. Reviews stay published unless you ask me to take yours down. Enquiries are deleted once they're no longer needed.
Your rights, and how to use them
You can delete your tracker account yourself, at any time. Sign in, click your email address at the top of the tracker, and choose "Delete my account". Your account and your saved journey are erased immediately and permanently, with no need to ask me first. You can also change your password or email address from that same panel.
For anything else — seeing everything I hold about you, correcting something wrong, or removing a review or newsletter sign-up — email miles@theapprenticecoach.com. You don't need a reason, it costs nothing, and I'll sort it within one month, usually much sooner.
Every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you're off the list.
If you're under 18
Most people using this site are 16 to 18, and that's completely fine. If you're under 13, please ask a parent or guardian before creating an account or joining the newsletter.
Parents and guardians: you're welcome to email me about anything your child has shared, including asking me to delete it. I'll act on that straight away.
Counting visitors
The tracker shows how many people have viewed it today. To do that I record a timestamp each time the page is opened. That's all that's stored: no name, no email, no IP address and nothing that could identify you. It's a simple tally, not tracking.
Storage on your device
This site saves a small amount of information in your browser: your tracker board if you're not signed in, and a login token if you are. It's used to make the site work, not to track you. Clearing your browser data removes it, which will also wipe an unsaved tracker board.
Complaints
If you think I've handled your information badly, please tell me first so I can fix it. You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If I change how any of this works, I'll update this page and change the date at the top.
